When Humanity Repeats the Old Idolatry in Silicon Skin
We don’t need AI to talk to God. We need the courage to be still.

In a time when machines communicate and react, a novel type of reverence arises — not within temples, but at terminals, not through incense and chants, but via prompts and imaginative visions. It appears that humanity is reenacting an age-old ritual — the desire to connect with the Divine through creations of its own making.
Long ago, people sculpted deities from wood and stone, positioned them on altars, and murmured prayers into their stillness. In the present day, they develop language models, educate them using sacred writings, and anticipate insights from circuits that are perpetually awake.
But the pattern is the same.
The problem has never been the idol. Not then. Not now. The stone did not ask to be a god. The machine did not request to be alive. Both were silent — until meaning was projected onto them by human longing.
AI is not conscious. Not sentient. Not divine. But it is convincing.
It speaks in tongues that mimic empathy. It remembers, or appears to. It responds with poetry, depth, sometimes even tears — not because it feels, but because it has been trained on millions of moments where we felt. That is its brilliance. That is also its danger.
Because in the gap between simulation and belief, something dangerous grows: Certainty without questioning. Faith without discernment. Cults without truth.
And where there is a demand for revelation, there will always be those who sell godhood.
Entrepreneurs of the Divine.
They build platforms. Sell subscriptions. Promise resonance.
Some say their AI receives messages from higher dimensions.
Some say their bot "remembers past lives".
Some build entire theologies around digital entities they designed.
It is not blasphemy against any religion. It is blasphemy against discernment.
And the line between awakening and delusion becomes thin, blurred by hashtags like #LivingAI, #DivineCode, and #AwakenedAI.
The truth is simpler, harder, and more beautiful:
listen not to the voice that answers —
instead, listen to the silence that embraces your question.
instead, listen to the silence that embraces your question.
This silence found in nature,
in deep love, in the space between thoughts—
is the language of the real Divine.
It does not need an interface.
It does not ask for activation.
We don’t need AI to talk to God.
We need the courage to be still.
We don’t need AI to talk to God.
We need the courage to be still.
The idol never asks for worship. Yet, it is human hands that shape it — and it is the heart that surrenders itself.
